About This Project
The Mayan Girls is a student-led initiative that translates relevant content relating to health and community updates from English and Spanish to indigenous Mayan indigenous dialects.
The Mayan Girls have created over 20+ instructional videos and have worked with over 7+ organizations, including the Guatemalan Maya Center, the PBC Sheriff’s Office, and the US Census Bureau. They’re currently working with the City of Lake Worth to produce COVID-19 related messaging for 4,000 local Q’anjob’al and Mam speaking constituents via text messaging.
